Another useful technique for the non-invasive diagnosis of hair growth and scalp concerns is Trichoscopy. The trichoscope is a tool that can be used during the initial or follow up consultation to examine hair follicles and skin on a patient’s scalp. Images from trichoscopy display numerous characteristics of hair and scalp disorders that can’t be seen with the naked eye. By scrutinizing the images, normal characteristics can be seen and compared with different characteristics which may help identify signs of hair loss or scalp disorder.
